When you are in the domain business you need to have a good website where to lookup the whois information for a particular domain. This is how Wikipedia defines the whois of a domain if you want ot know what the whois information of a domain is.
I am using the following websites whenever I need to look up the whois information of a domain.
EuroDNS: A good domain look up tool which also provides you with a variety of extensions for the particular domain name you are looking up.
Whois.net: This is the number one result in Google when you type in whois. It has everything you need to have but not much more.
Domaintools.com: This my third choice. It has all you need and more useful tools on the website. All in all very good.
These are just three tools for the whois domain lookup. There are many more but I found these three to be most useful.
Domain parking is a great way to earn money from domains that you are looking to sell or can not find the time to develop.
Here are the three of the best parking companies you can find:
Sedo – Global reach for your domains. If you have a lot of domains and generate very good revenues because they are generic domains then Sedo with their Sedo Pro Account is for you.
Parked – A great parking company for the North American market. If you have domains that perform really well in the US and CAN then you should go with them.
NameDrive – The big third one in the parking club is NameDrive. As you can from the banner ads here am I a member of NameDrive. A lot of my domains are from Europe and North America. For this combination I found NameDrive to be ideal. I have also noticed that their revenue is doing better for my best performing domains nowadays.
I would always choose between these three parking companies for your domains. All of them are great companies with very good customer service.
Some interesting domain name sales news this month. These are the most interesting facts for the news item:
“The last quarter has witnessed a 5.5 per cent increase on the number of domains changing hands on the Sedo marketplace, compared to Q2 2009 with a total of 9,928 domains changing hands for more than £14 million.
Despite the introduction of new domain extensions, .com remains the most po¬pular top-level domain accounting for more than 45 per cent of all sales on the Sedo market¬place and approximately 80 per cent of all gTLD sales. The average sales price for a domain name has also increased by 37 per cent from £1,031.17 to £1,412.
The report comes off the back of the Halifax Property Index which has also seen an increase in offline property sales. However, in terms of sales price, the domain sector is growing from strength to strength; while house prices in the UK have increased by 7.1 per cent during the past six months, the average cost of a .com domain name has grown by 14.8 per cent in the same period.”
There have been a lot of attempts to knock the .com domain extension from the number one spot in terms of registration numbers but no domain extension it seems like will ever be as popular as the .com. This view is supported by these latest stats below.
These are the latest stats in terms of TLD domain counts:
This is the first real blog entry and I thought there would be a better topic then the question where to put a domain name for sale.
When I started in the domain business about 7 years ago there where not many places where you where able to in a reliable way buy and sell domain names.
There where a lot of interesting and groundbreaking sites out there over the years but I stuck to these two for several years now and I am totally happy with them.
Here they are:
Sedo- A global marketplace for domains. here you can put domains up for sale, buy domains and park domains to earn some money on the domains you own.
Moniker- Moniker has even more to offer. Moniker is the leading provider of domain name registration, management, and monetization services for individuals and businesses. A big part of their business is also the domain Marketplace. This marketplace has now moved over to Snapnames so please follow this link if you are interested in the Moniker/Snapnames Marketplace.
With these two sites you will never go wrong. No more dodgy websites that promise you successful sales of your domain names just b signing up. Sedo and Moniker are reliable and trusworthy sites if you either want to sell your domain name or already have a buyer/seller for a domain name and need a trustworthy middle man.
